Obituary of Doris R. Coyne

Please share a memory of Doris to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Doris Coyne (nee Riebel) 88, of Brigantine, NJ, formerly of Washington Crossing, PA, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, March 11, 2017. Born in Philadelphia, and raised in Bristol, PA, Doris was the youngest child of the late Frederick and Anna Riebel. After graduating from Bristol High School, Doris worked for Pattison Parcel Paper Company in Bristol and waited for the love of her life, Jack, to come home from the Army. Shortly after the war, Doris and Jack married and honeymooned at the Jersey Shore. Jack, a Union Carpenter, then built a house for his bride in Levittown, PA, where Doris raised two sons and joined her husband in the ownership and operation of Coyne's Coin-Op. In the midst of all this, in the early 1960's, Doris and her husband decided to buy a summer home in Brigantine, undeterred by sandy roads, pesky greenheads and interminable waits for the old bridge to open and close. After her boys were raised, Doris and Jack later moved their full time residence from Levittown to Washington Crossing, PA and, after years of being a homemaker, Doris once again returned to the work force as a data entry machine operator for CoreStates Bank in Ewing, NJ, where she worked for ten years. Shortly after her beloved Jack passed, Doris decided to move to Brigantine full time where she spent the last two years of her life. Known for her great laugh, and expressive faces, Doris enjoyed doing her puzzles, solving her word searches and cheering (or booing, which she did frequently) for her favorite baseball team, The Philadelphia Phillies. Doris was a member of St. George's Church in Titusville, NJ and also a congregant at St. Thomas Church in Brigantine, NJ. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, John T. "Jack" Coyne, her sister Mary Riebel Fawkes and her two brothers, Harry and Ed. Doris is survived by her two sons Kenneth (Kathy) of Yardley, PA, and Mark (Rita) of Brigantine, NJ; and four grandchildren, Dana, Jared, Jennifer and Elliott. Visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home, 17 S. Delaware Avenue, Yardley, PA. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Thursday at St. George's Church, 1370 River Road, Titusville, NJ. Burial will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Upper Makefield Township, PA.
