The family of Joseph Evanchik are rejoicing through their tears that Joseph has left his earthly body and is now transformed and in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. He passed away July 18 at Chandler Hall Hospice. Born in Plains, PA, the son of Martin Evanchik and Margaret Shepko, he resided in Yardley for 36 years and then in Traditions @ Washington Crossing since 2005. Joseph was a US Navy Veteran and then went on to earn his degree at Rochester Institute of Technology, and worked as a printing executive at Princeton University Press for over 30 years. He went on to help his wife, Colleen, in their Christian Book & Gift Store, and also in real estate. A confirmed bachelor until he met the love of his life, who had crossed the ocean from England, together they had a wonderful 50 year marriage. He was a good and faithful husband, a wonderful father and a devoted pop-pop. He is survived by his wife, Colleen, a daughter and son-in-law, Tanya and John Kinney of Yardley; a son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Michele Evanchik of Yardley; a brother Theodore Evanchik of North Brunswick, NJ; a sister, Olga Teschke of Garwood, NJ, and three granddaughters, Molly Kinney, Anna and Emily Evanchik. He was the brother of the late John Evanchik. Joseph confessed his faith in Jesus Christ at the age of 55, and enjoyed going to church at WCUMC and then at Riverstone Church in Yardley. 'For I am convinced that neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord', Romans 8:38,39.? Friends may call at the Fitzgerald-Sommer Funeral Home Friday, July 21, from 6-8 p.m. and a service will be held there on Saturday at 11, and friends may call from 10 until time of service. Burial at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Jesus Film Project; 27631 La Paz Road, Suite A, Laguna Niguel, CA 92677. The family wish to thank Dr. John Newsom for his many years of care, and the staff at Chandler Hall Hospice during his brief stay.
