Larry Robert Schneider (Gus)
December 30, 1938 – February 23, 2026
YARDLEY, PA - Larry Robert Schneider (Gus), age 87, passed away on February 23, 2026.
Gus was full of life and humor throughout his final days and was surrounded by loved ones. With a deep love for his family and friends, an unforgettable sense of humor, an unwavering positive outlook, and a gift for storytelling, he reminded us to laugh often and live gratefully. We are heartbroken by his passing but are so thankful to have had him as part of our lives. We will miss hearing him say “Every day is a holiday, and the worst I’ve ever had was wonderful.” May we carry his joyful spirit with us, until we meet again.
Gus was born in Louisville, KY on December 30, 1938. He spent most of his youth at Ormsby Village orphanage, where he graduated with his high school diploma. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1956 and proudly served for eleven years as a flight engineer, traveling the world and serving during the Vietnam War.
Gus married Ruth Ann Haje in 1963, and together they began growing their family a few years later. After leaving the Navy, Gus built a nearly fifty-year career in the automobile industry. He could fix anything and even built a car with his youngest son.
Gus was preceded in death by Ruth Ann Haje, his beloved wife of 38 years. He is survived by four children and their spouses, Stephen Schneider of Washington Crossing, PA, Stephanie Sever (Brian) of Arlington, VA, David Schneider (Pauliina) of Fredericksburg, VA, John Schneider (Stacy) of Glendale, AZ; five grandchildren, Taylor Schneider, Evan Schneider, Nicholas Schneider, Haden Sever and Jared Sever; siblings Lanita Gammel, Harry Goldberg (Bonnie), Linda Swart; brother-in-law Charlie Urian; nieces and nephew Vicki Gammel, Alan Gammel (Madonna), Katie Bishop (Aaron), and Laura Harris (Wryan); and many great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
After Ruth’s passing, Gus was blessed with a second chapter of love and companionship with Carol Semeraro Cameron of Fairless Hills, PA, a longtime family friend. Carol’s father, Anthony Semeraro, predeceased Gus in 2018 but was a very special person in his life. Carol’s children, Amy Ginaldi (Frank), Richard Falkevitz (Jennifer), and Jill Lafferty (Barry), and grandchildren (Joey, Caroline, Sophia, Corinne, Caelan, Brynn, Lillian, Christina, Autumn, and Austin), warmly welcomed Gus into their family.
Gus also cherished the many meaningful friendships in his life. He shared many memorable years with his dear friend and fishing companion, Tom Waters, who predeceased him in 2017. He leaves behind his longtime friend, Frank Keating Sr., with whom he shared countless visits and stories.
Dearly loved and forever in our hearts, we know that Gus is resting in God’s peace and love.
