Ann Ellis Sutphin of Doylestown, PA, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.
Born on July 25, 1938, in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Kathryn and Louis Ellis.
She is survived by her husband of fifty years, Derik Fenimore Sutphin, her stepdaughter Amanda Sutphin, her granddaughter, Amelia Jones, her son-in-law, Andy Jones, her niece Nolann Blokdyk, and her nephew Michael Ellis along with multiple great-nephews and one great-niece and many friends.
Ann was an architect who practiced for over forty years and began her career at a time that few women were architects. She went to the University of Pennsylvania and graduated in 1961 and served as a member of multiple boards including: the Bucks County Planning Commission, the Interior Design Council, the Yardley Historic Architecture Review Board, and the American Institute of America in multiple capacities. She enjoyed travelling and painting but especially loved gardening and was a longtime member of the Garden Club of America.
There will be no funeral at her request, but the family asks that any donations people wish to make in her honor be made to Philabundence.
