Jeannette Leonhauser Obituary

Jeannette Croft McNinney Leonhauser, age 94, passed away peacefully with family present on April 14, 2026, at her new home in Richboro. Born on June 10, 1931, in Bordentown, New Jersey, to the late Evelyn and Harlan McNinney, she lived a life dedicated to her family and friends.

Known to her grandchildren—and later the entire family—as Gogs, she set the standard for living a gentle, peaceful, graceful life, teaching her grandkids by example how to hug and love people, pets, and flowers. Her presence at family gatherings brought immediate serenity, including those many years of early Sunday evenings spent sipping wine ("just a little") on the backyard swing before dinner.

To meet Jeannette was to have an immediate and forever friend, as Gogs maintained lifelong friendships from childhood and McFarland High in Bordentown; her homemaking years in Levittown and Yardley; and her days of widowhood in Sutphin Pines in Lower Makefield, St. Joseph's Court in Levittown, and her final year at Brookdale Senior Living.

A member of Yardley United Methodist Church for 65 years, Jeannette volunteered for a host of church-based activities, the last was assisting with monthly Communion. Jeannette was always active, from playing field hockey and basketball ("the girls only played half court") in high school to driving herself to Silver Sneakers classes until she was 92.

Jeannette is survived by her daughters, Barbara Leonhauser, Cynthia Sacchi (Thomas), and Patricia Merrick (Christopher); grandchildren, Emily Merrick (Michael Perlstein), Kimberly Mattison (Adam), Maria Topley (Matthew), and Patrick Merrick (Kate Webb); and great-grandchildren, Milo, Oliver, Silas, and Poppy Jeannette, with two more great grandchildren expected to arrive in May.

Besides her parents and her brothers, Ken, Paul, and Jack, Jeannette was predeceased by her husband, Robert, a handsome wartime veteran, wonderful husband, protective father, and helpful friend who passed in 2003. Bob, smitten by a beautiful girl he met at a dance, had no intention of letting her get away and, when the night ended, wrote her phone number in the dust on his car's dashboard. Bob and Jeannette had many wonderful years together raising the kids and then a retirement helping the next generation raise theirs.

A visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 9:30 to 10:00 AM followed by a memorial service at 10:00am at Yardley United Methodist Church, 300 Yardley-Langhorne Rd., Yardley, PA. Interment will follow at Bordentown Cemetery, 210 Crosswicks Rd, Bordentown, NJ.

Memorial donations may be made in Jeannette's name to Yardley United Methodist Church.

Arrangements are under the care of the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home 17 S. Delaware Avenue Yardley, PA 19067. Condolences for the family can be left at www.fitzgeraldsommerfuneralhome.com.
