Paul Victor Clark Obituary
Paul Victor Clark (“Grandpa”), beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, friend, Marine Corps veteran, NYPD police officer, teacher, and Knight of Columbus, died peacefully on May 7, 2026, at Saint Joseph’s Manor in Meadowbrook, Pennsylvania.
Paul was born on February 24, 1930, in Queens, New York, to Vera (Jones) Clark and Lawrence M. Clark. He shared 68 devoted years of marriage with Dorothy Ann Clark until her passing in December 2022.
Paul lived a remarkable and meaningful life. As a young man, he studied for a time at a Franciscan seminary before leaving to join the United States Marine Corps. After active duty, he attended St. John’s University, where he met the love of his life, Dorothy. Following his honorable discharge from the Marines and National Guard in 1959, he continued his education and later earned a master’s degree in criminal justice from John Jay University.
Paul served the people of New York City as a police officer for more than 20 years, ultimately becoming a Sergeant in charge of homicide and narcotics units with the NYPD. After retiring from law enforcement, in 1978 Paul and Dorothy moved from Bayside, New York, to Lower Makefield Township, Pennsylvania, where he began a second career as a professor at the Community College of Philadelphia.
Faith and spirituality were central to Paul’s life. He maintained close friendships with many Jesuits from Saint Ignatius Retreat House in Manhasset, New York, and Christian Brothers from De LaSalle Vocational / St. Gabriel’s System. Having grown up during World War II, both Paul and Dorothy deeply appreciated the sacrifices of military service members and proudly organized care package deliveries to troops serving overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Paul is survived by his daughter, Maureen Clark-Gallagher, and son, Paul Francis Clark (Patricia); his grandchildren Allison Marino (Devin Kaltenbach ), Daniel Marino (Julie Henshaw), Michael Gallagher (Chelsea English), Brian Gallagher (Leighanna), Kevin B. Clark, Megan Gallagher, Tyler Clark, Jeanine Guemmer (Matt), Dylan Clark (Julie), and Sean Clark (Allie); and his great-grandchildren Charles Clark Marino, Harrison Paul Marino, James Paul Clark, Chase Clark Guemmer, and baby Hudson Michael English-Gallagher, expected in June 2026.
He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Gene Rosenquest; nieces and nephews Lori Rosenquest-Fox (Michael), Kenneth Rosenquest (Andrea), and Eugene Rosenquest (Emmy); and great-niece Bethany Mandel (Seth). Paul also leaves behind many dear friends, including Rev. Donald Gannon, Rev. Vinny Sullivan, Rev. John Keenan, the Hope Family, the Ingulli Family, the Gould family, the Pfeiffer family, Pam Flynn, Peggy Baxter, Betty & Steve Whiteman, and Nancy & Chuck Paul. The list could go on, as he was truly loved by many.
Paul has now reunited in heaven with his beloved wife Dorothy; their son Kevin; his parents, Vera and Larry; his sister Vera; son-in-law John Gallagher; his mother-in-law Antoinette Boylan; and many cherished friends and family members who preceded him in death.
The final years of Paul’s life were spent at Saint Joseph’s Manor Personal Care, where he was treated with exceptional love, dignity, and respect. His family will remain forever grateful to the staff and to the Sisters of the Redeemer for their compassionate care.
A Requiem Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 10:30am, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 201 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, Morrisville, PA 19067. A viewing will take place in the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed immediately by the Mass, which will be celebrated by Rev. Donald Gannon, SJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Paul’s memory to Saint Joseph’s Manor Personal Care, 1616 Huntingdon Pike, Meadowbrook, PA 19046.
And, because Paul was color blind, family and friends are warmly invited to wear blue to the funeral — so he can see you.
Arrangements are under the care of the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home 17 S. Delaware Avenue Yardley, PA 19067. Condolences for the family can be left at www.fitzgeraldsommerfuneralhome.com.
