Greta was born in Trenton, NJ.  She was a graduate of the George School in Newtown, PA, and she received her bachelor’s degree of Science from Purdue University, as well as her master’s Degree in Health Physics from Georgia Tech.  Greta completed her degree in Elementary Education and went on to have her two beautiful children, Emma Elyse and Jakob Ayden.  Upon moving to Bloomington, IN from West Chester, PA, Greta made many friends and devoted her life to her family and her community.  She had just completed her third master’s degree in special needs childcare development with a “mild to moderate” designation and was looking forward to helping children with special needs and giving them a better quality of life.  She always went above and beyond in everything she did, always putting others first.

Daughter of the late Dr. Erich H.W. Simon, M.D. and Adella (Durcanin) Simon, mother of the late Dr. Emma Elyse Mumper and Jakob Ayden Mumper, niece of the late Anna and Elmer Harrison, and Martin and Hannelore Simon, she is survived by her brother Erich G. Simon, a sister and brother-in-law Erika L. and Thomas Sands, her niece Alexandria Sands (Liam White), her nephew Erich Sands, her cousins Adella Harrison, Scott Harrison (Marcia), Thomas Simon (Susann), Stefan Simon (Gabriella), and numerous cousins and friends.

Emma was born in Atlanta, GA.  She graduated from Bloomington H.S. North and was part of the swim team which participated in the 2008-09 Indiana State meet.  Emma was an excellent swimmer, and was also an Age Group State, Senior State, and Sectional Qualifier.  Emma graduated with highest honors from Indiana University.  She most recently attended Stony Brook University where she received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology.  She always excelled at her studies and was an over achiever and highly admired in her profession.  She was compassionate towards those she strived to help.  She provided counseling services for young children and teens to help them overcome anxiety, depression, and trauma at the Child Help Partnership in NYC, Stony Brook Hospital, and the Krasner Psychological Center.  Emma loved her animals, especially her hedgehogs.  She enjoyed exploring new cities and the world through road trips despite mom telling her not to drive by herself.  Emma is survived by her aunt, uncle, and cousins.  The rock and love of her life, Rishab Nithyanand was blessed to have known and loved her.

Jakob was born in Trenton, NJ.  He was currently attending Bloomington H.S. North where he was an honor student and an award-winning swimmer.  Jakob received the Gold Award in Swimming his sophomore year, the Maroon award his junior year, and he was awarded the Swimmer of the Year award for both his sophomore and junior years while swimming for the Bloomington North Cougars.  He was also a state qualifier for both club and school teams.  He was a member of the National Art Honor Society and was also a Cougar Den Leader.

Jakob was the president of the Bring Change to Mind group, an organization that gives students a platform to share their voices and raise awareness around mental health.  He was a kindhearted soul who was a good listener, and a supportive shoulder to all his friends.  He enjoyed gaming with his cousin Erich, and drawing, fishing, and tubing with his friends.  His sneaker collection and swim medals were his most prized possessions.  He was also an aficionado of fast cars.  Jakob was an excellent hugger who showered love on anyone in need.

Jakob is survived by his aunt, uncle, cousins, and you couldn’t catch him without his High School sweetheart, Amanda Okulski, by his side.
