Nanny Jan was a grandmother like no other. She always had a spring in her step and warmth in her heart. I fondly remember her piano playing at the house, singing in church and wonderful family meals that we shared in the sun space. She was an amazing caretaker of my late grandfather (Pop Pop) and a loving soul.....I miss her.

Nanny Jan was an engaging and attentive grandma. A story teller with a collection of sayings, upbeat and accepting nature that can not be matched. My favorite, “Thats why there’s chocolate and vanilla!”
Though we lived far away we were welcomed each summer to spend weeks at her home in Washington’s crossing. Our days were filled chasing cotton tails, eating wild strawberries and playing by the pool. Nanny Jan organized adventures to the Jersey shore, Rutgers and always knew the best restaurants for us kids. But our favorite part about visits to pop pop and nanny jan’s were the cinnamon toast and our marathon monopoly games in the sunroom. Do not pass go! Has become a common phrase in our home along side the sweet scent of cinnamon and melting sugar as the tradition continues. We love you Nanny Jan!

Jan was a special person. She was so down to earth and practical, but at the same time loving and thoughtful. I enjoyed her stories of growing up with her river boat captain father. She was smart and wise. If asked her advice was always solid. Although she did not have her own children, she made our children her grandchildren. I am so appreciative of the space she made for us in her heart. I love you Nanny Jan. Happy Trails.
