Kyu Kyu Hlaing, 74, of Trenton, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 28, 2025.
Born on April 18, 1950, in Myanmar (Burma), Kyu Kyu was the daughter of Chit Hlaing and Aye Kyi. A highly accomplished civil engineer, she dedicated many years to the United Nations, a career that allowed her to travel the world and live in places such as France, Egypt, and Yemen. In 1992, she moved to the United States, first settling in New York City before making New Jersey her permanent home. She later worked as a research scientist for the New Jersey Department of Human Services until her retirement in 2018.
Kyu Kyu found joy in painting, making music, taking walks, and, most of all, spending time with her daughter.
She is survived by her daughter, Alesandra (Allie) Hlaing, along with siblings, nieces, nephews, and many cousins around the world who will forever cherish her memory.
