Obituary of James W. Geltch
Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
James W. Geltch, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully in the early evening on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at the age of 83. He is survived by his loving wife, Roberta (Haislip), with whom he shared 61 years of marriage.
Jim dedicated nearly four decades of his life to teaching, imparting his knowledge of drafting and architectural design to generations of students at Burlington City High School. He held a master's degree in industrial education from Trenton State College.
Outside of his career, Jim loved to travel and was an avid golfer. He also found great joy in woodworking and was a model railroading enthusiast—hobbies that appealed to his creativity and meticulous attention to detail.
Jim's family meant everything to him. In addition to Roberta, Jim is survived by his children, Janet Schimek, David Geltch, and his wife, Laura; his grandchildren, Samantha, Katie, and Morgan Schimek; Madelyn and Julia Geltch; and his great-grandchildren, Callie, Greyson, and Nora. Jim was pre-deceased by his mother, Annetta Paine; his stepfather, Frank Paine; and his father, James W. Geltch, who was killed in combat in WW2.
A memorial service will take place on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home 17 S. Delaware Avenue Yardley, PA. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The family asks, in lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org) or the Parkinson's Foundation (parkinson.org).
Known for his good nature and kindness, Jim was a man of quiet strength, always ready to lend a helping hand, a kind word, or a well-timed joke. Jim will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on through the many lives he enriched.
