Please share a memory of Douglass to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Douglass K. Dobas, 70, of Hershey, Lower Swatara and Yardley, Pa. (that's right folks, Doug and Sue still didn't know where they wanted to live when they grew up) passed away on May 11, 2025, in the beautiful setting at Carolyn's House, a home run by the Hospice Of Central Pa. Sue Honeyman, his life partner of over 40 years was by his side. Doug was born on April 25,1955, in the Charleroi-Monessen Hospital to the late V. William Dobas and Christine Hayduke. Doug graduated from Belle Vernon High School in 1973 and obtained a bachelor's degree in statistics from Penn State Harrisburg in 1977. With that degree, he started his career at the United States Census Bureau. He transitioned into Information Technology to work at various businesses, including AMP, QVC, Armstrong World Industries, The State of Pennsylvania and CertainTeed, a subsidiary of Saint-Gobain. In his personal life, Doug loved the beach (Sandy Hook in particular), the mountains and nature in general. If there was an injured bird in the yard, Doug would nurse it back to health. He also loved working on cars, small engines, dabbling in carpentry and any kind of home and machine repair. If something broke or needed fixed, Doug would come up with a way to repair it. He created many "Dobas inventions." He is survived by his life partner, Susan Honeyman and niece, Madison Dobas. He was preceded in death by his mother, Christine Hayduke, his father V. William Dobas and his brother Darrell Dobas. Sue is requesting no sympathy cards. Letters and cards sharing fond memories are welcome. Services will be held at a time to be determined by family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carolyn's House, 1701 Linglestown Rd., Harrisburg, PA 17110 or Sandy Hook Foundation, 84 Mercer Rd., Fort Hancock, NJ 07732. Arrangements are under the care of the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home 17 S. Delaware Avenue Yardley, PA 19067. Condolences for the family can be left at www.fitzgeraldsommerfuneralhome.com.
