I have had the honor of working with Barry for over 22 years at AAH Management and am deeply impacted by Barry’s leadership and character.
Barry a mentor, a guide, and someone who always had time for others—whether to celebrate a success or to offer support in a difficult moment. He believed in people, often more than we believed in ourselves.
He led with quiet strength, fairness, and a sense of humor that made even the hardest days a little easier. Barry will be remembered not just for what he accomplished, but for how he made us feel—valued, respected, and part of something meaningful.
We’ll carry his lessons with us. And in that way, his legacy continues at AAH !!

Reading Barry’s accomplishments is not only a testament to what he believed in supporting the underprivileged, but a huge inspiration to do more for others as he did. What greater legacy could one leave?

Barry hired me to work with him at the firm he cofounded. I learned a great deal from him particularly working with him in his capacity as a bankruptcy trustee. He was a great mentor and a great person to work with.

Q: How would you describe Barry to someone who had never met them?
A: I have worked very since 2016 and have always found him to be a gentleman! He was very compassionate, sympathetic, and empathetic person to me talking to him if you were talking to a friend. I will always remember him for his kindness and his gentle smile he will be missed.

Barry, working for you and with you as your assistant for the past twenty-seven years can never be called work. It was a pleasure. I’ll always cherish our good times together, whether in court or having lunch. Remembering our Trustee holiday parties and the laughs we shared. You were my confidant, mentor and so much more. The brother I never had. My heart is broken. Rest in peace my dear friend.

I’ve had the honor of working with Barry since the fall of 2016, when I joined Woods Services—now the Woods System of Care—the Board he has faithfully served on for over 15 years. Over the past four years, until July 2024, Barry served as our exceptional and steadfast Board Chair. During that time, he stood shoulder to shoulder with the Woods team as we navigated existential threats, a global pandemic, and, together, built a one-of-a-kind system of care for individuals with special needs and complex challenges.
What can I say—Barry is truly one in a million. Whether as a friend, colleague, Board member, or Chair, he brought unwavering commitment, compassion, and leadership. To Michelle and the entire family: thank you for sharing Barry with us. There wasn’t a single day he didn’t think of Woods. He was always checking in, always engaged.
I know I speak on behalf of our clients, Board, and staff when I say thank you, Barry—for your boundless support, love, and dedication to our mission. Your focus never wavered. In fact, less than two weeks ago, from his hospital bed, after watching ads for the New Jersey gubernatorial primary, Barry called me—not for himself, but to ask me to find out who he should invest in on behalf of all of us at Woods.
Thank you, Barry, for your wisdom, leadership, and heart. You leave an indelible mark on all of us. - Tine Hansen-Turton, Woods System of Care

Barry you are the best brother a sister could ever have. You were the most honest caring individual I ever met. Thank you for being a wonderful uncle to my kids and my grandkids. You were an especially good mentor to Brian as he was starting his business. He looked up to you as a fatherly figure. I took care of you when you were little and you took care of me when we grew old. I will always Love you and I know I will see you again someday.
