I’ve had the honor of working with Barry since the fall of 2016, when I joined Woods Services—now the Woods System of Care—the Board he has faithfully served on for over 15 years. Over the past four years, until July 2024, Barry served as our exceptional and steadfast Board Chair. During that time, he stood shoulder to shoulder with the Woods team as we navigated existential threats, a global pandemic, and, together, built a one-of-a-kind system of care for individuals with special needs and complex challenges.
What can I say—Barry is truly one in a million. Whether as a friend, colleague, Board member, or Chair, he brought unwavering commitment, compassion, and leadership. To Michelle and the entire family: thank you for sharing Barry with us. There wasn’t a single day he didn’t think of Woods. He was always checking in, always engaged.
I know I speak on behalf of our clients, Board, and staff when I say thank you, Barry—for your boundless support, love, and dedication to our mission. Your focus never wavered. In fact, less than two weeks ago, from his hospital bed, after watching ads for the New Jersey gubernatorial primary, Barry called me—not for himself, but to ask me to find out who he should invest in on behalf of all of us at Woods.
