Richard Karl Wizeman Obituary

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Richard (Dick) Karl Wizeman, 75, of Lower Makefield Twp., PA. Dick passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Newark, NY on March 29, 1950, to Karl and Pearl Wizeman, Dick spent the early years of his life in Palmyra, NY before moving to Bristol, CT during his high school years. He then attended Northeastern University in Boston, MA to study Civil Engineering. During his time at Northeastern, Dick became the president of the Phi Gamma Pi Fraternity. As fate would have it, a fraternity party led him to meet his wife Celeste Marie Medici.

While attending college, Dick was employed at Van-Note Harvey Associates in Princeton, NJ through Northeastern’s co-op program. After obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1973, Dick and Celeste married and moved to East Windsor, NJ. Dick continued his employment at Van-Note Harvey, where he would eventually rise to the role of Vice-President, Chief Operating Officer, and Partner, until his retirement in 2023. Despite his career success, when asked about his occupation Dick would always modestly reply that he was a Civil Engineer. He took great pride in Van-Note Harvey and its many accomplishments - and always viewed his colleagues as a second family.

Dick and Celeste eventually moved to Ewing, NJ. They started their family in Ewing before moving to Lower Makefield, PA, where they would ultimately reside for 42 years.

Above all else, he lived for his family and was, in every aspect, a selfless provider to his loved ones. Dick, along with his wife Celeste, hosted countless family gatherings. He truly valued every moment of time with his family and never missed a family event, particularly enjoying his grandchildren's activities. In addition to family time, Dick enjoyed home projects, including woodworking and gardening, and made physical fitness a priority, running or biking regularly. Dick was truly at peace enjoying the outdoors. He grew up hunting and fishing with his father and brothers, and eventually his sons, nephews, and grandson. Many memories were made enjoying the mountain air at the family cabin in Forksville, PA.

Dick will be dearly missed by his loving wife Celeste of 52 years; children Matthew and wife Jacqueline, Koren and husband Joshua, Kristin, and Mark and wife Karen; grandchildren Jaden, Alexander, Joshua, Valentia, Benjamin, Daniel, Francesca, Reese, Anna, and granddog Mario; brothers Robert and John; and sister Ann. He is predeceased by his parents Karl and Pearl.

Dick’s life dramatically changed with a devastating diagnosis of Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), a rare neurodegenerative disorder. Strong as he was stubborn, Dick outlived his MSA prognosis through the loving care and devotion of his wife Celeste. Dick carried on without complaint, living his final years at his home with peace and dignity while enjoying time with friends and family. In the hope that a cure may someday be found, the family asks that you consider a donation to Mission MSA (https://missionmsa.org) in lieu of flowers.

The family would like to personally thank all of the caregivers who treated Dick with respect and kindness.

The funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 11:00am at St. Ignatius of Antioch Catholic Church 999 Reading Avenue Yardley, PA 19067.  Interment will follow immediately after at the All Saints Cemetery 291 W.
