Obituary of Doris E. Hoffman

Doris Ettenger Hoffman, born July 28, 1924, in Trenton, New Jersey, raised in Morrisville, Pennsylvania passed away August 20, 2025, at 101 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Russell and Anna Gallagher Ettenger. A resident of Lower Makefield for 75 years, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years, Horace Hoffman who died in 2024. She is survived by her devoted son and daughter-in-law Ted and Sharon Hoffman, her much loved granddaughter, Caitlyn Hoffman and great grandchildren Lily and Lacey of Yardley; Dear friends, Ed, Linda, Jim (Caitlin) and David (Caitlin) D'Orlando. In addition, her nurse, Tammi (Jay) Wright and family. In the last few years, Dot was well cared for at Sunrise Senior Living and in the last months, Chandler Hall Hospice, especially Joanna Wyszynski and Bob Anderson who knew and catered to her sweet tooth for chocolate. Dot retired from Rider University after 20 years of service. She was past President of the former Yardley Civic Club and was a founding member of the Lower Makefield Women's Club. The memorial service will be held from 10:00am to 10:30am on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home 17 S. Delaware Avenue Yardley, PA 19067. Interment will be held privately for the family. In lieu of flowers, Dot would appreciate donations to the SPCA in Lahaska, Pennsylvania, as she was an avid animal lover.
