It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Joyce Hamblin(Gibson) on September 14, 2025, at the age of 92.
Joyce and her identical twin, Joan, were born on January 15,1933, in Providence, Rhode Island to Natalie A. (Ekeblad) and Gordon G. Gibson. She had a happy childhood in rural Rhode Island, where she helped with farming duties, including milking cows and operating a farm stand.
Upon graduating from high school in a class of 14 students, she matriculated to the University of Rhode Island and earned a BS in Dietetics. Upon graduation she entered the army as a Lieutenant and spent two years working at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington DC. During her tenure at URI, she was crowned Queen of her sorority, AdPi and chosen as the Aggie Ball Queen.
In 1956, while visiting Cape Cod, she met her future husband, John Hamblin. They were married for 60 years and produced a wonderful family of 5 children, 15 grandchildren and one great grandson.
John and Joyce raised their children in South Jersey, where they were intimately involved in their children's sports and activities while being active members of bridge clubs and the social club, "Lords and Ladies". Joyce's lengthy and versatile career as a dietitian allowed her to work at various hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and care facilities, most recently a 20 year stint at the Livengrin Foundation in Bensalem, PA.
Joyce had many remarkable gifts, broad interests, and a gregarious personality. She was an accomplished bridge player, an exceptional cook, and an enthusiastic entertainer, all of which made it easy for her to make new friends and participate in many activities and clubs, but most of all, she loved her family.
Over the years, she and John organized and hosted family gatherings, holiday parties, trips to the beach, cruises and other events, which will forever remain in the memories of her family.
She is survived by her 5 children, Steven, Kristin, Joan, Louise, and Eric, fifteen grandchildren, Jordan, Hannah, John, Isabella, Camillo, Generosa, Carlo, Dylan, Elizabeth, Luke, Max, Lily, Cole, Mark, and Ben, and one great-grandson, Benjamin.
She was preceded in death by her husband John, and her sister, Joan.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 10:00am at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940.
