William F. Kelly of Lower Makefield Township, PA, died on Monday July 31, 2017 at Chandler Hall Hospice in Newtown, PA. He was 84 years old. Born in Trenton, New Jersey, son of the late Joseph A. Kelly and Julia Spillane Kelly, Mr. Kelly was longtime area resident, recently moving to Lower Makefield. Bill attended St. Mary's Cathedral Grammar School and Trenton Catholic Boys' High School, graduating in 1950, and Trenton Junior College. He served in the US Navy from 1951 to 1955 as a radioman aboard the submarine, US ATULE. Upon returning to Trenton, he was employed by the NJ State Museum as a senior preparator. In 1965, Bill received awards for advertising excellence, and started his own ad business in Trenton, representing local industries including Wenczel Tile and Stangel Pottery. In 1968, Bill began a twenty year career as manager of graphics and corporate services with Hoechst Celanese Corporation at its New York City headquarters. He also, served as president of their employees' Credit Union for 12 years before retiring in 1987. Bill was known for his love of humor, painting, music and singing. He extensively travelled to Ireland which was the inspiration for his well received land and sea scape paintings. Bill was also a member and publicist for The Ewing Art Group. He participated in many productions by the Washington Crossing Theater in the Park in singing, acting roles, and assisted with set and stage design. Whenever he had the chance, Bill loved trout fishing, golf and a day at the races. Bill was a long time member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish in West Trenton where he sang in the Choir and taught CCD. Father of the late June Kelly and Timothy Patrick Kelly, he survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Frances Poliziani Kelly; two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane K. and Michael Ryan of Lower Makefield, and Nancy A. and William Perella of Falls Twp.; a son, William Bryan Kelly of Las Vegas, NV; a sister, Esther Hossenlopp of Winfield, MO; three grandchildren, Michelle (Adam) Zensinger, Kyle Perella, and Christina Perella; one great grandson, Leo Kelly Zensinger, along with many neighbors and lifelong friends. Family and friends are invited to call from 10am to 11:15am Friday at the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home, 17 S. Delaware Avenue (River Road), Yardley, PA. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12pm at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 137 West Upper Ferry Road, West Trenton, NJ. Burial will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery, Yardley, PA.
