Please share a memory of Maureen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Maureen A. Travagline, RN BSN, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. She was 66 years old. She was a 37-year resident of Newtown, PA and enjoyed spending vacation time at her second home in Naples, FL. She is survived by her loving husband Leonard of 44 years. She was a wonderful mother to her children, daughter Tracy and son-in-law Marti Moulson of Safety Harbor, FL, daughter Cheryl Travagline of Langhorne, PA, and son Bradley Travagline of Sewickely, PA. She was a loving big sister to her 5 brothers and sisters, Harold Burke, Jr., Susan Yarborough, Barbara Rubeling, Russell Burke, and John Burke. Throughout her life, Maureen excelled in her career. She was a graduate of the College of New Jersey with a B.S. in Nursing, and later earned a Master's in Education from Widener University. She recently retired from a nursing career of forty years. She spent 25 years as a critical care nurse, and the last 16 years as a school nurse at Northeast High School in Philadelphia. Family was most important to Maureen. She was happiest when her children (her chickens) were all together. She loved to cook for them and spoil them. Maureen had endless energy and enjoyed working out, doing Zumba and aerobic classes. She was an amazing cook, enjoyed gardening, and reading. She travelled extensively throughout Europe with middle school students on tours organized by her sister Barbara. She was the most selfless person, always putting others ahead of herself. She spent a lifetime taking care of people. For this and many reasons, she will be forever missed and loved by so many. Special thanks to our relatives, friends, neighbors, and her co-workers for their caring support of our family. Memorial contributions can be made to Pancreatic Action Network, www.pancan.org. Calling hours for family and friends will be on Tuesday, January 10, from 10AM-12PM with Mass following at St. Andrews Church, 81 Swamp Road Newtown, PA. Interment at Newtown Cemetery will be held privately.
