N. Guylene Goodall of Middletown, DE, died on Tuesday October 2, 2018 at the Season Hospice at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE.
Born in Houlton, ME, daughter of the late Guy Frederick Smith and Kathleen Nason Smith, she was formerly of Yardley, PA before moving to Delaware 17 years ago.
An active member of her high school Glee Club, she enrolled at the University of Maine and led an active academic and extra circular life at the University. A graduate in Home Economics and a minor in Foods Research, her most memorable experience was participating in the Model United Nations program. In her first week of school, she also met her husband, Merton K. Goodall to whom she was married for 53 years.
When the Goodall family moved from Westport, CT to Bucks County in 1974, Guylene ended her career as a teacher and became a homemaker very active in
community activities. An expert seamstress, her home was the hub of socializing among her children's friends and classmates who enjoyed the warmth of her kitchen and her skill in baking treats. She was also an accomplished golfer at Yardley CC and president of its Women's Golf Association. Guylene was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
Wife of the late Merton K. Goodall, Jr., she is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathleen G. and Robert Perniciaro of Lower Makefield Twp., PA, and Melissa J. Harris of Middletown, DE; four grandchildren, Rachael (Karlton) Widenmeyer, Jennifer (Markham) Walton, Robert (Carole) Perniciaro, and Timothy Merton (Patricia) Perniciaro; eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Friends may call from 2pm to 4pm Sunday October 7th at the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home, 17 S. Delaware Avenue (River Road), Yardley, PA. A private burial will be on Monday at the Newtown Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
