Phyllis J. Atkins of Lower Makefield Township, PA died on Sunday October 21, 2018 at Virtua Marlton Hospital, Marlton, NJ. She was 87. Born in Trenton, daughter of the late John J. and Louise Massara Favata, she resided in Lower Makefield for over fifty years. Phyllis graduated from Rider University becoming an elementary school teacher; first in the Trenton and then in Pennsbury School Districts. After marrying and raising her family, she was employed by the New Jersey State Police at its Headquarters in West Trenton in its Logistics Department. Whatever the task or endeavor, Phyllis approached it with enthusiasm and her kind spirit. Wife of the late Edwin P. Atkins, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jon E. and Kristine Atkins; two daughters and sons-in-law , June and Frank Branagan, and Karen McDonald and Gregory Rapp, and six grandchildren, Madeline and Samantha Atkins, Ashley, Frankie and Felicia Branagan, Peyton McDonald and her husband Ben Whittington. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am Saturday at St. Ignatius Church, 999 Reading Avenue, Yardley, PA, where friends may call from 9:30am. Burial will in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, http://giftfunds.stjude.org/PhyllisAtkins.
