Obituary of Frances D. Cornelsen

Frances D. Cornelsen of Southampton, PA died on Thursday January 24, 2019 at Southampton Estates. She was 95. Born in Alton, IL, the daughter of the late Joshua and Eva Rouse Deen, she resided in Swarthmore, PA for forty years. Frances was graduated from Shurtleff College in Alton, IL (Southern Illinois University), and received her Masters from Union Theological Seminary's School of Sacred Music in New York City (Yale University). She enjoyed a long and successful career as Organist and Director of Choir at the Wallingford Presbyterian Church in Wallingford, PA. She was active in the vital liturgical music ministry. Besides raising her three children with a deft touch, she rendered consistent community service as a member of the Ridley Women's Circle at Ridley Hospital. In retirement, Frances was the organist at the Leiper Presbyterian Church in Swarthmore, PA. Wife of the late Rev. Dr. Rufus Cornelsen, she is survived by three children, David Cornelsen, Kathleen France, and Sara DeCubelis; nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be at 11am on Saturday March 2, 2019 at the Wallingford Presbyterian Church, 110 E. Brookhaven Road in Wallingford, PA.
