Obituary of Maurice William Mahony

Maurice William Mahony of Lower Makefield Township, PA passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday March 21, 2019 at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, PA. Born in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Maurice and Alice McDonald Mahony. He was raised in Queens, NY, formerly of Rutherford, NJ, and an area resident here for the past 31 years. Bill graduated from Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School in Brooklyn and Fordham University in the Bronx. Bill's career was in finance concentrating on banking and financial services for many corporate institutions. A U.S. Army Veteran serving in Vietnam as a medic, and an active and devoted member of VFW Post 6393 Yardley. Bill was a avid sports fan with a range of interest extending from his children's sporting events to his beloved NY Yankees. Bill's other interest included visits to Long Beach Island and keeping up with currents events by reading local and regional newspapers. Bill is survived by his wife Theresa Strofolino Mahony; four children, Daniel Mahony and his wife, Lisa Van Strat and their children, Olivia and Jordan, Andrew and Jennifer Mahony and their children, Jack, Riley and Ellery, Jeanine and Mark Richer and their children, Emily, Ryan and Dylan, all of Lower Makefield, and Christopher and Anna Mahony and their children, James and Lucy of Hoboken, NJ, and two sisters, Kathy Velten of Perry Hall, MD, and Jane Stephenson of Middle Island, NY. Family and friends are invited to call from 10am to 11:15am Wednesday at St. Ignatius Church, 999 Reading Avenue, Yardley, PA, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30am. Burial will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to VFW Post 6393, 1444 Yardley-Newtown Road, Yardley, PA 19067.
