Jeanne was very proud of her Doane ancestors, and was a member of the national “Doane Family Association”, for many years. Jeanne was the last of six, tight-knit cousins to survive: her brothers, Roland, Jr. and Robert; cousin Wilbur “Buster” (who died in WWII); Phyllis Wolf Stanley (my mother), and Frederick W. Wolf, all predeceased her. Jeanne’s Grandparents, Fay Clair Doane & Ettie French Doane, were long-time residents of Jersey Shore PA, where they raised their children: Roland (Jeanne’s father); Lyle; and Anna Beatrice Doane Wolf (my grandmother).
As my mother’s first cousin, she and Jeanne stayed in close contact with each other until my mother’s passing, in 2017. I am proud to have several of Jeanne’s artworks in my home, and was very pleased that she passed along to me the Doane history that she collected over the years. Sadly, I wasn’t aware of her death until I searched her name to verify her address for a Christmas card. My love and thoughts go out to her friends and to her son.
