Gene R. Cadwallader Gene R. Cadwallader of Yardley, PA died on Friday April 17, 2020 at Chandler Hall in Newtown, PA. Born on July 4, 1934 in Trenton, NJ, a son of the late John E. and Susie Burns Cadwallader, he was a lifelong Yardley resident. Gene served in the US Navy for four years during the Korean War after graduating from Pennsbury High School. He returned to Yardley and began a lifetime of work and volunteer activity in the community. Gene owned and operated Cadwallader's Luncheonette on Main Street, he was bus driver for the Pennsbury School District and retired as Office Manager for William W. Fabian & Son, Inc. in Newtown, affectionately known as "The Oil Patch". In 1961, Gene became an active member of the Yardley-Makefield Fire Company serving in many capacities. Gene was president of the fire company from 1967 to 1972, treasurer for 40 years and became a life member in 1999. His accomplishments are too many to list, but some of his proudest achievements were the construction of YMFC Station 80 in Woodside and he was the driving force in the location and restoration of the Fire Company's original fire engine, a 1937 custom Studebaker. He could be seen for many years since the restoration driving it with his huge smile and waving to all in many local parades and fire company functions. Gene along with Jim Coyne and John Poiron were commonly known as the three amigos within the YMFC community. They would always enjoy their Thursday night dinners together. Gene's other community associations included Treasurer of the Newtown Reliance Company and Yardley-Woodside Fish and Game Club. Assistant Treasurer of the Yardley Makefield Fireman's Relief Association. He was also a member of the American Legion Knowles-Doyle Post 317 and Yardley-Makefield VFW Post 6393.
