Louise Mae Harris Metzger of Lower Makefield Township, PA passed away peacefully Thursday, February 2, 2017 surrounded by her family at the home of her daughter. She was 77.
Born on the Family farm in Lower Makefield, she was one of the 12 children of the late Joseph C. and Lillian Brelsford Harris, Louise remained a lifelong resident of the area.
In her youth, she sold produce at the Trenton Farmers Market with her father, and was a utility worker at Westinghouse, where she met her husband of 44 years, Donald Young Metzger.
Louise was a waitress, working for many years at Charcoal Steak's & Things in Yardley, the Squirrels Nest Cafe in Morrisville, and more recently at the Hampton Inn where she loved to share her warm smile and joking nature with her customers.
Louise will be remembered as a kind and caring mother, devoted wife and loving grandmother. She loved baking pies and cakes, and spending time with her family.
She was the wife of the late Donald Y. Metzger, and sister of the late, Betty Sayko, Hazel Manness, Joanne Cadwallader, and Doris Borden. She is survived by her son, Daniel Y. Metzger and better half Sandy Hollenbaug; her daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Chris Holliday; three brothers, Joseph C. Harris, Jr., James Harris, and Charles Harris; four sisters, Ruthie Saxby, Barbara Wallace, Ann Rusnak, and Mary Cheesman; three sister in laws: Zenaide Metzger, Gloria Koushel, Janet Walsh: and four grandchildren, Katie and Maggie Metzger, and Courtney and Alex Holliday.
Friends and family are invited to call on Tuesday February 7th. 2017 from 2pm to 5pm with a funeral service following at 5:30pm at the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home, 17 S. Delaware Avenue (River Road), Yardley, PA.
