Obituary of Terri Scanlon

Terri Scanlon, 62, of Yardley, PA and Bar Harbor, ME departed this life on Friday January 29, 2021. The daughter of Gerald and Signa (Hansen) Scanlon, Terri was born in Oneonta, NY.  

Surviving are her husband of 35 years, Greg Lyons of Yardley, PA; brother Robert and sister-in-law Nancy Scanlon of Oneonta, NY; niece Jill and nephew-in-law Keith Fisher of Hummelstown, PA; nephew Brian Scanlon and family of Troutman, NC; great nephews Aidan Fisher and Wyatt Scanlon; great niece Keira Fisher; aunt Bette Lewis and cousins Jimmy Howarth, Bonnie (Mike) Parker, and Cindy (Shane) Kapusta of Port Charlotte, FL; mother and father in-law Robert and Ann Lyons of Greenwich, NY; sisters-in-laws Sharon (Scott) Wood, Janine Smith and Andrea Lyons; nephews Marcus (Cassie) Wood and family, Thomas (Emilee) Wood and family, Tad (Alex) Smith and Brieanna Smith.  She will also be greatly missed by many cherished friends.

Terri was predeceased by her mother and father, her beloved grandparents and her cousin Holly Howarth. 

Terri graduated from Oneonta Senior High School in 1976. She earned a Bachelors in Psychology/Behavioral Science from the State University of New York Plattsburgh and a Masters in Higher Education Administration from the State University of New York Albany. 

Following a distinguished career in higher education, she co-founded and became Managing Director of Reslife.Net, a company which continued her commitment to protecting and nurturing young people. Terri was the recipient of numerous awards and a mentor to many young professionals. She left an indelible mark on the profession.

Terri was passionate about being of service to others and was generous with her time. She volunteered for many years for the ArtSpace program at HomeFront, in the Trenton, NJ area.  When in Bar Harbor she loved volunteering for Community Dinners. She was devoted to family and friends – offering shelter and support whenever needed.

An athlete and outdoor enthusiast, Terri was always ready for an adventure. She loved camping and exploring National Parks, particularly hiking and biking the carriage trails in her beloved Acadia; traveling across Europe and sailing in the Caribbean.

A celebration of Terri’s life will be held at a later date.
