Helen Boyce Obituary

Helen Virginia Boyce "Ginny", passed away on Tuesday February 28, 2017 at her home with family by her side. Born in Lonaconing, MD, she was the daughter of the late Lesta Geharman. She spent her entire career as a homemaker, a role she really enjoyed. In this role she had the opportunity to live in Chicago, IL, Yorktown Heights, NY, and finally settling in Yardley, PA in 1970. Her focus over her life was to support her family, her faith, finding time to volunteer, and be part of communities in which she lived. While in Yardley, Ginny logged over 4500 hours volunteering at St. Mary's Hospital. In addition, she took time to read books to nursing home patients, who could no longer see well enough to read. She was an active member of Woodside Presbyterian Church for 47 years. Ginny is survived by her husband, Joseph K. Boyce; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn and Paul Doran, and JoAnn and Jeffrey Rocque; four grandchildren, John (Jill) Doran, Peter (Lara) Doran, Alexander Rocque, and Stacey Rocque; one great grandchild, Nellie Doran; her sister, Martha Hardegan and her life partner, James Barry, and brothers-in-law, Terry (Ellen) Boyce, and Paul (Mellissa) Boyce. She was preceded in death by uncle Kenny and aunt Nellie James. Funeral services will be at 10:30am Saturday at Woodside Presbyterian Church in Lower Makefield, where friends may call from 9:30am. Burial will follow in Newtown Cemetery, Newtown, PA. In lieu of flowers and in recognition of Ginny's strong faith donations can be sent to Woodside Presbyterian Church, 1667 Edgewood Road, Yardley, PA 19067.
