Obituary of Jacquelyn J. Laumakis

Please share a memory of Jacquelyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jacquelyn J. (Stone) Laumakis Our dear, sweet Jackie lost her seven-month battle with metastatic breast cancer on Tuesday, October 25 at Chandler Hall. She was 66. Born in Shadyside, Ohio, Jackie was a proud graduate of St. Mary's College in Notre Dame, Indiana. She was the Executive Director of the Bucks County Department of Public Welfare for 25 years. She was known for treating everyone fairly, and for her determined and constant efforts to serve the clients of her office as well as the needs of her staff. Jackie was respected by all of her colleagues and staff and beloved by many. An amazing gourmet cook, Jackie delighted in creating three-course birthday dinners for family members. Since her retirement, she enjoyed traveling to the Caribbean and to Maui to whale-watch with her "sweetheart" of 21 years. Together, they were regulars at Miller's Ale House for Wednesday night lobster night. Jackie loved lobster. A truly kind, caring, and giving person, this strong and selfless woman was beloved for her many acts of kindness and her consideration to many. Her greatest joy was showering her grandchildren with the special love that could only come from Grammy. Whether it was a baseball, basketball, field hockey, lacrosse, or volleyball game, she was always there to cheer them on. She attended every dance recital over the past ten years, and she never missed one school band concert. To say she was proud of her grandchildren would be an understatement. The special love for and from Grammy will always be remembered. She is survived by her soulmate and loving husband of 18 years, Jerry. Left to cherish her memory are her stepdaughters Laura and Carolyn, grandchildren Holly and Christopher Fischer and Hanna Kemps, and godchildren Andrew Hoffman and Beth DiPietropaolo. She will also be deeply missed by two special family members, Kevin Fischer and Harry Kemps, and by her brother Gary Guehl of Chicago, Illinois. To know her was to love her. We will gather to celebrate Jackie's life of love, caring, and compassion at FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home, 17 S. Delaware Avenue, Yardley with calling hours on Sunday, October 30th from 5pm-8pm and Monday, October 31st from 9am until service at 11am. Contributions in Jackie's memory may be made to Metastatic Breast Cancer Network or the Pacific Whale Foundation.
