I met Claire on the playground at Makefield Elementary School....she was in her first year of teaching, and I was in third grade. All the little girls on the playground loved talking to her because Miss Hammond was so pretty. As years passed, my mom got to know her in the church choir, and we all ended up ringing bells together. She was a great teacher, friend, and fellow educator! Her support of the plight of fairness to teachers was valuable to all public school teachers! I am so sorry to Joe, Doug, and Steve (and family) for your loss.....it is a loss felt far and wide! My prayers are with you!!!!!!
