Franklin W. Queen Franklin W. Queen of Lower Makefield Township, PA died on Monday, February 7, 2022 surrounded by his loving family at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, PA. Born in Charleroi, PA, a son of the late Frank A. and Eileen Culmer Queen, he has resided here for the past 56 years. Frank had two employers for the over half a century he worked in corporate management. After graduating from Pennsbury High School, he became an intern in the work/study program at US Steel from which he retired after 35 years of service. Frank then joined the management team at the Harrisburg News Company where he spent 18 productive years. At Pennsbury High, Frank was an outstanding athlete in track and field. He held the Pennsylvania interscholastic records in both the high jump and the pole vault and participated in the Penn Relays. During the summer months, Frank worked as a lifeguard and continued his love for the Shore with his family at Long Beach Island. It was while lifeguarding one day as a teenager that he cut his foot on a piece of glass and the sweet Marilyn Watkins was close by and helped patch it up. They fell in love and were never apart from that day forward. Frank also looked forward to regular trips to interesting corners of the world. He could be counted on to attend the sporting events and other activities of his six grandchildren. Skiing was his favorite winter activity and he had a soft spot for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a longtime member of the Morrisville Presbyterian Church and active as teenager in the Church's Youth Club and then again when both his daughters were in the Youth Club as teens as well. Frank is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Marilyn Watkins Queen; two daughters and sons-in-law, Megan and David Loughery of Lower Makefield, and Bronwyn and Michael Bergen of Newtown, PA; sister, Denise Queen Traub of Lake Harmony, PA, and six grandchildren, Michael D., Molly, Michael R., Devon, Colin, and Gillian. He was the brother of the late Lt. Colonel Averill L. Queen. His funeral service will be on Saturday February 12th at 11am at the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home, 17 S. Delaware Avenue (River Road), Yardley, PA, where friends may call from 9:30am until 10:45am. Masks are required to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association.
