John Kovalcik Sr. (84) passed away peacefully in his Venice, FL home on March 12, 2017. He was born on July 16, 1932 to John and Catherine as the second child of six children, in Vandergrift, PA. The family moved to Akron, OH where John attended St Vincent's HS and went on to graduate from the University of Akron. While working three jobs and going to school, he met and later married Dolores "Dodie" Germano who preceded him in death in 2003. John is survived by his four sons, John, James, Thomas and Dave as well as 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild. John is also survived by his wife, Carol Shockley and her two sons Jeffrey and Greg and their three children. Always a hard worker and forward thinker, he was successful in data processing first with US Steel and finished his corporate career with CBS in NYC as a Vice President. His early involvement with computers sparked his sons to start Computerware, a PC reseller., in 1981. All five "boys" built and later sold the Company which went public in 1995. John practiced living life to the fullest, he was an avid golfer, fantastic father, husband and son. His quick wit, temper with no bite and genuine compassion was a model for his family and friends. Known by his siblings and relatives as "Sonny" we will miss his zest for fun and his decisive ability to move through life without procrastination. He was humble and courageous to the end. Goodbye John Sr. – make us a tee time up there… His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am Wednesday April 19, 2017 at St. Ignatius Church, 999 Reading Avenue, Yardley, PA. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
