Obituary of Matthew Flowers

Please share a memory of Matthew to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Matthew "Chick" Flowers, 79, of Lower Makefield Township, PA died on Wednesday February 9, 2022. Born in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late Matthew L. Flowers, Chick formerly resided in Falls Township for more than 40 years. Chick was a proud graduate of Holy Family University and an avid fan of the Philly sports teams, Penn State, and "Carolina" basketball. He especially enjoyed routing against Duke. Chick and his family shared countless memories of summer vacations in Ocean City, New Jersey. Chick enjoyed his daily trips to RJ's for his cup of coffee, newspaper, and crispy bacon. Chick served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Kaskaskia and after his discharge began a lifelong career as an accountant. Chick coached CYO basketball at St. John the Evangelist for more than 40 years; the highlight of which was coaching his grandson in a farewell-to-coaching celebration in March 2020. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Barbara (née Drill); two daughters, Terri Seifert of Bethlehem, PA and Susan Flowers of Lower Makefield, and grandson Benjamin Seifert. Chick was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Christopher Seifert. His funeral arrangements are being handled by the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home, 17 S. Delaware Avenue (River Road), Yardley, PA, where friends may call on Sunday, February 20th, 2022 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm. Burial will be in Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA at 9:30 am on Monday, February 21st with a Funeral Mass to follow at 10:30 am at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 752 Big Oak Road, Morrisville, PA 19067. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
