Meryl S. Jacobson of Yardley, PA passed away on Saturday April 8, 2017.
She was the beloved wife of Charles B. Jacobson and loving mother and mother-in-law of Ann Jacobson Parham and Ruben Parham, Jr. of Effort, PA, Carolyn Jacobson Bowers and Michael Bowers of New Port Richey, FL, Gerard Jacobson and Dana Brigandi of Fairless Hills, PA, Clare Jacobson and Richard Beresis of San Francisco, CA, Diane Jacobson O'Brien and Shawn O'Brien of Erie, PA, and John Jacobson of Smicksburg, PA; her brother Clarence "Jay" Steiger of Carmel, IN, and ten grandchildren, Matthew Jacobson, Samantha, Makayla, and Jacob Bowers, Ben and Adam Parham, Luke and Cole Jacobson, Meghan and Dan O'Brien. She was the sister of the late Laurene Steiger Kelly and Daniel Steiger, both of Cleveland, OH.
Meryl was the proud graduate of St. Joseph's Academy in Cleveland, OH. After school she worked as a bank teller at Society for Savings in Cleveland. She married Charles in 1956, and raised her six children with him. They moved to Yardley in 1968 and became parishioners of St. Ignatius Catholic Church. She remained a faithful parishioner to the end. She worked with special needs children in the Pennsbury School District as a teacher's aide for many years. She was a friend to many who was especially fond of playing bridge, and "luncheoning" with her friends from all avenues of her life.
Meryl's love of children and children's love of her was the centerpiece of her life. Her devotion to her children, grandchildren, and the special needs children with
whom she worked was obvious to all.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am Wednesday at St. Ignatius Church in Yardley. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 5pm to 8pm Tuesday at the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home, 17 S. Delaware Avenue (River Road), Yardley, and from 10am until time of service Wednesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to The Salvation Army or Our Lady of Victory Homes Of Charity, 780 Ridge Road, Lackawanna, NY 14218-1682.
