John Gordon, 91, of Yardley, PA, passed away, peacefully, on the morning of Wednesday, April 19. He was the beloved husband of Mary, his beautiful bride of more than 55 years; loving father to Loriann (Michael) Swank and Shaun (Leilani) Gordon; adored grandfather to Samantha (David) Nosti, Heather (Rowdey) Stanley, and Emily and Ben Swank; treasured great grandfather to Leah, Skyler and Rowdey Stanley Jr.
John grew up in Hazelton, PA, and graduated from Hazelton High School in 1943. He was predeceased by his parents, Anna and John Gordon, and his two sisters, Margaret Gordon and Pauline Sweeney.
John was an avid stamp collector and enjoyed annual vacations to Disney World and related theme parks with his wife, Mary. Together, they created a lasting legacy of remembrance with commemorative bricks celebrating their love of Disney World. John also passed on his love of motorcycles and photography to his children, whom he would ride around with, on the back of his bike, in Bucks County.
John was a metallurgist technologist, who also worked on microscopes, retiring from U.S. Steel after a 30 year career. He delighted in watching his family grow and expand, and enjoyed making and sipping margaritas with his wife. John was a kind, loving human being, who will be remembered and missed by his family, friends and many acquaintances.
A viewing is planned for Tuesday, April 25, between 9:00 - 10:00 A.M., at the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home, 17 S Delaware Ave., Yardley, PA. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. at St. Ignatius of Antioch Catholic Church, 999 Reading Ave., Yardley, PA, followed by entombment at Greenwood Cemetery in Hamilton Twp, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in John's name may be made to Chandler Hall, 99 Barclay St., Newtown, PA 18940.
