Obituary of Patricia Ann Keel

Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Patricia Ann “Pat” Keel passed away in her sleep on the morning of February 22, 2023, at Buckingham Valley Rehabilitation Center in Newtown, PA. 

 

Pat was born Patricia Ann Klahr on November 13, 1930, to Gertrude Eva Klahr (née Finnen) and John Samuel Klahr of Rensselaer, NY. She spent her childhood surrounded by her aunts, Elaine, Irma, Natalie, and Joan (all née Finnen), who were to Pat like sisters. 

In 1952, Pat married Robert Donald “Bob” Keel of South Bethlehem, NY. Their son, Robert Donald Keel, Jr, was born in 1953, their daughter, Stacy Caedmon Keel, in 1957, and their second daughter, Hillary Ann Keel, in 1959. 

Pat was dedicated to Bob and their family.They resided in Lower Merion in Bala Cynwyd, PA, for nearly twenty years while Robert served as Rector of St John’s Church, and after that another ten years in Buckingham, PA, where Robert served as Rector of Trinity Church. After Bob’s retirement, Pat and Bob moved to Lackawaxen, PA. There, they lived until 2012 before moving to Yardley, PA, where they spent the final years of their lives. As often as they could, Pat and Bob made trips to Europe to visit their daughter Hillary’s family in Austria. Pat was a prolific cook, reader, gardener, and puzzle-solver. Her love, wit, and sense of humor will be missed forever. 

Pat is predeceased by her husband Robert Donald Keel (1931-2015), her son Robert Donald Keel, Jr. (1953-1978), and her daughter Hillary Ann Keel Strohmeier (1959-2022). 

She is survived and held in loving memory by her daughter Stacy Caedmon Keel of Yardley, PA, her grandchildren, Paul Robert Strohmeier and Sophie Gertrude Strohmeier, both originally of Vienna, Austria, and her great-granddaughter, Rosa Undine Strohmeier of Saarbrücken, Germany.
