Dorothy T. Young (Dot), age 94, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne, PA. Born and raised in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late George and Helen Labenz and the beloved wife of the late Frank Young.

Dot was a proud graduate of the first graduating class from Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls in Philadelphia. After high school, she worked as a secretary for a bank.

In 1954, Dot married Frank, her next-door neighbor and the love of her life. They raised four children in Philadelphia before moving to Yardley in 1977.

Dot and Frank started F.C. Young Company in 1971. The family business grew to become the largest tinsel garland manufacturer in the U.S. Today it is proudly managed by three of their children and two grandchildren.

Dot was small in stature but had a big personality, a hearty laugh and never missed an opportunity to have fun with her family and friends. We will always remember her perched on a chair with a beer in her hand at every family event.

She enjoyed traveling and cruising with her friends, summer trips to Ocean City, NJ, shopping, getting her hair done weekly and going to Sunday Mass at St. Ignatius Church.

She was predeceased by her husband Frank, granddaughter Lauren Young, son-in-law Mark Dorsey, her sister Geraldine and her three brothers, Jim, Jack and Tom.

She is survived by her daughter Kathy (Jeff) of Highland Park, ILL; her son Fran (Maria) of Yardley, PA; her daughter Karen (Mark) of Newtown, PA; her son Kevin (Judy) of Yardley, PA; and her cousin Pat Cantwell (Phila).

She will be greatly missed by her beloved grandchildren: Beverly Funk, Brent Schwartz, Shawn Dorsey, Kevin Young,

Jenie Glicksberg, Patrick Dorsey, Megan Tamasitis, Heather Young, Buddy Young and Michael Young. Also, her great grandchildren: Christian Funk, Colin Funk, Caroline Funk, Kailey Wilson, Bentley Glicksberg, Riley Tamasitis and Kaden Dorsey.

The funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 24, 2023 at 11:30am at St. Ignatius Church 999 Reading Ave. Yardley, PA 19067.  Visitation will be held at the church before Mass from 10:00am to 11:30am. Burial will be at St. Andrew’s Cemetery in Newtown.
