Obituary of John Hubiak

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Mr. John Hubiak Jr., 66 unexpectedly passed away on May 15, 2023, at St. Mary’s Medical Center as a result of complications from a recently detected medical condition.
John was born in Pittston, Pennsylvania on October 5, 1956. He was the son of the late John Peter and Lorraine Catherine (Pashinski) Hubiak. When he was in elementary school, his family moved to Bristol, Pennsylvania where his father was working as a teacher. The next year they bought a house in Yardley, Pennsylvania where he grew up and attended school. He was a graduate of Pennsbury High School and attended East Stroudsburg University.
John was always fond of Bucks County and that’s where he sought his future employment, working several jobs in the area, but it was when he was hired as the athletic director by Morrisville School District that not only did his career, but his life took off. John never saw working at Morrisville as a job, but as an extension of himself. He loved everything about Morrisville Middle/Senior High School and for the next thirty years, every student, athlete and staff member became a cherished member of his family. And, for that, shortly before his passing, John was recognized at the Bucks County Sports Officials ceremony for his 30 Year commitment to the students at Morrisville High School and all of Bucks County. John had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.
John truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, chatting (especially about sports) with friends and family, enjoying a good meal and spending time enjoying the antics of his much-loved cats. He had a down-to-earth sincerity that connected him to others.
John is survived by his sister, Theresa (Hubiak) Gomez and her husband Helio, of South Pasadena, California, nephews Helio John Gomez of Tampa, Florida, Nicolas Gomez (Yolanda Padilla) of Covina, California, Daniel Gomez (Molly Dixon) of Alhambra, California, and niece Samantha Gomez of Saint Francis, Wisconsin, seven great-nephews and nieces, Carolyn, Helio Tomas, Alexander, Preston, Nico, Zelia and Ciel and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and numerous aunts and uncles.
A Celebration of John’s life will be held on Saturday, June 10, from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Morrisville High School, 550 West Palmer Street, Morrisville, Pennsylvania, 19067.
Funeral service and interment will be private. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Fitzgerald-Sommer Funeral Home, 17 South Delaware Avenue, Yardley, Pennsylvania. Condolences for the family will be received at www.fitzgeraldsommerfuneralhome.com.
A memorial scholarship fund in John’s name is being established at Morrisville High School for graduating senior athletes. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to this scholarship fund in John's honor.
