Mary D. Campbell of Lower Makefield Township, PA passed away after a brief illness surrounded by her family on Saturday May 13, 2017 at Chandler Hall Hospice in Newtown, PA. She was 95. Born in Haddonfield, NJ, daughter of the late Herman G. and Mabel Carlson Deitrich, she had resided in Lower Makefield for the past 63 years. Mary was a homemaker and enjoyed a long career as a legal secretary, retiring 33 years ago. She was an active and independent person, who still maintained her own home. In retirement, she was an enthusiastic member of the Lower Makefield Seniors, Lower Makefield Women's Club, Eastern Star Neshaminy Chapter # 374, an expert bridge player, and a longtime member of the Yardley United Methodist Church. Mary loved the ocean and spending her summers in Cape May, NJ. Mary was the wife of the late Robert L. Campbell, grandmother of the late David M. Campbell, Jr., and sister of the late Dorothy Sahns. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David M. and Jamie Campbell of Lower Makefield; two grandchildren, Dylan J. Campbell, and Kelli N. Campbell, and two nephews and their wives, Steven and Marie Sahns, and Richard and Kathy Sahns. Funeral services will be 10am Thursday at the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home, 17 S. Delaware Avenue (River Road), Yardley, PA. Burial will follow at Locustwood Cemetery, Cherry Hill, NJ. Friends are invited to call from 5pm to 7pm Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Chandler Hall Hospice.
