Obituary of Mary Jane Hofmann

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mary Jane Hofmann, who departed this world on July 7th, 2023, at the age of 86. Mary Jane, MJ as she was known to many, was the wife of the late John T. Hofmann, both of Morrisville, Pennsylvania.

MJ leaves behind a loving family of four children, eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Those children, Sharon Hoffman (Ted), Kathy Miller (Bob), John (Stacy) and Robert (Linda) and grandchildren, Matthew (Melissa), Caitlyn, Kristyn (David), JT (Danna), Tyler, Courtney, Bobby and Theresa will always hold MJ in their hearts. Her Great Grandchildren: Chase, Lily, Emily, Troy, Lacey, Tucker, Jayden and Brody will never forget her kisses and warm hugs.

After graduating from Cathedral Catholic High School for Girls in Trenton, New Jersey, Mary Jane worked for Stacey Sport Shoppe, DeLaval & Bell Telephone Company. As she and John started a family, MJ stayed home with the children until they were of school age. As time passed, she worked various part time jobs including a crossing guard and a teaching assistant at Bishop Conwell. Her most fulfilling job, other than being a mother was working in the library for Rider University where she retired after 25 years.

MJ loved the Jersey shore where she and John retired. They enjoyed boating, fishing & crabbing. She loved to travel and was willing to pack a bag to join any adventures with her children. Ireland was one of her favorite destinations which she always hoped to return some day. Mary Jane was also a great cook which her family will agree she made the world's best potato salad, clam chowder & spaghetti sauce.

Mary Jane's passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her whether you were from her childhood years, Sherman Lane, a Hibernian, Beach Haven West, Heathergate or most recently Sunrise Senior Living. Whether you knew her as: MJ, Mom, Grammy, Nonnie, neighbor or friend, our memories of her will continue to live within all of our hearts.

The funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at 10:30am at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church 201 N. Pennsylvania Ave. Morrisville, PA 19067. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery located on River Road, Yardley. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home 17 S. Delaware Ave. Yardley, PA 19067. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Ronald McDonald House Charities (rmhc.org).
