Obituary of Rosa Lillian Evelyn Waninger

Rosa Lillian Evelyn Waninger, 86, of Philadelphia, PA passed away peacefully on December 27, 2023.

 
Rosa was born in Bergen, Norway and received her Baccalaureate Degree from the University of Bergen before making the United States of America her home. Rosa was a Clinical Laboratory Scientist and worked as a Professional Medical Technologist and Clinical Faculty Member at the Temple University Hospital College of Allied Health Professions for over 30 years.
 
Rosa was  a polio survivor with an indomitable spirit and was a true inspiration to family, friends and colleagues. She loved all things beautiful, supported lifelong learning, arts, culture and historic conservation. Rosa was an active member of the Sons of Norway Fredriksten Lodge #125 and the Benjamin Rush Chapter of the PA Questors.
 
Preceded in death by her parents Master Mariner Captain Leif Nikolai Sandtorv and Clara Marie Nilsen as well as beloved brother Terje Sandtorv.
 
Rosa is survived and will be missed dearly by her daughter Lisa Renee Waninger Domenic (Ralph), grandsons Nicholas David Domenic and Anthony Ernest Domenic in Yardley, PA,  sister Nina Ingeborg Sandtorv, nephews Captain Oddvar Sandtorv (Merete) and Leif Nicolai Sandtorv (Elianne Riis) in Bergen, Norway and their children, Marius, Karianne, Thor and Helene and children’s children Magne, in addition to many cherished cousins and extended family on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.
 
Friends are invited to call on Wednesday January 3rd, 2024, from 1pm-3pm with Memorial Service to begin at 3pm at the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home, 17 S. Delaware Avenue (River Road)  Yardley, PA 19067.
