Nester “Roy” Smith Obituary

Nester R. Smith, 78, of Princeton Junction, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at his home on December 31, 2023, in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. He was born on March 28, 1945. Nester, also known as Roy, was a jack of all trades, always doing things his way. He was a loving husband, father, and PopPop.


Roy is survived by his wife of 56 years, Doris M Smith, his daughter Kristin E. Conklin and son-in-law Jonathon Conklin, his sister Brenda Galate, brother-in-law Frank Pasierb, and granddaughter Avery J. Griffith.


Roy attended Notre Dame High School, in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, and later went on to study at Rider University, also in Lawrenceville. In the senior yearbook at Notre Dame, he "pictured himself in uniform," and enlisted in the Army National Guard; retiring after 40 years of service with the rank of Master Sergeant (E8). He was a proud career military man. After retiring from the Army National Guard, Roy worked with the New Jersey State Police Homeland Security Division, before spending the last 10 years as a security guard at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne.


In his free time, Roy enjoyed fishing and spending time with his granddaughter.


A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 17th, 2024, at 12:00pm at St. Ignatius of Antioch Church, 999 Reading Ave., Yardley, PA. A visitation will be held at the church from 11:00am to 12:00pm. Interment of cremains will take place at 1:30pm at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA.


In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
