Obituary of Amy J. Reed MD, PhD

Dr. Amy J. Reed of Yardley, PA died on Wednesday May 24, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving children, family and friends. She was 44 years old.

After graduating from Villa Joseph Marie High School in 1991 and Penn State University in 1995, Dr. Reed received her MD and PhD degrees from the University of Pennsylvania's School of Medicine. She subsequently specialized in anesthesia and critical-care medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Following her cancer diagnosis and iatrogenic complication at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Dr. Reed became a leading advocate for patient-safety and women's health.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Hooman Noorchashm; two daughters, Nadia and Ava; four sons, Joseph, Joshua, Luke and Ryan; her mother, JoAnn Tunis Trainer; her father, William Reed; three brothers, Matthew Reed, Justin Reed, and Daniel Trainer, and four sisters, Alison Perate, Andrea Kealy, Amber Trainer and Sarah Trainer.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30am Thursday June 1st at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, 1723 Race Street, Philadelphia, PA, preceded by a calling hour from 9:30am to 10:30am. All may also call on Wednesday from 4pm to 8pm at the Church of St. Andrew, 81 Swamp Road, Newtown, PA.
