Mary Louise Oppenheimer, 90, of Yardley, Pennsylvania, loving mother and grandmother passed away on March 28th 2024, surrounded by generations of family who loved her deeply.
Born on October 6th, 1933, in Philadelphia, Mary Lou was a graduate of Cornell University, where she received her undergraduate degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. She received her master's degree in elementary education from Harvard University and was proud of the time she subsequently spent in Germany teaching English to the families of our armed forces. After Germany, she taught for many years in the Pennsbury School District as a first-grade teacher and a Title One teacher.
As a child, Mary Lou enjoyed spending her summers in Medford Lakes, New Jersey with her family. As a mother and grandmother, Mary Lou dearly loved spending summers in Ocean City, New Jersey, surrounded by several generations of her children and grandchildren, as well as her sisters and their families.
Daughter of the late Dr. Paul and Almira (Bailie) Brann, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Sidney B. Oppenheimer. She is survived by her children David Oppenheimer (Lynne), Bette Ann Lantz (Stan) and Hank Oppenheimer (Katie) as well as her sisters, Kitty Stringfellow (Lin), Hellen Mullen (Don), and cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends. She will be forever missed by her nine grandchildren, Carrie Paul, Julia Cranmer, Rich Oppenheimer, Jackie Lantz, Laura Fischer, Jamie Lantz, Liam Oppenheimer, Quinn Louise Oppenheimer and Graham Oppenheimer.
The family would like to extend an earnest and special thank you to Patricia Duah and Melissa Afriyie for their years of dedication, the care they provided, and for sharing their love with our mother and our families.
