Mary P. Wilcox Obituary

Mary P. Schaeffer Wilcox, 60, of Langhorne died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, May 4, 2024. Mary was the beloved wife of James D. Wilcox for 38 years.

Mary was born on June 5, 1963 in Trenton, N.J. She was the treasured daughter of Thomas and Patricia Schaeffer. She attended St. Ignatius School, Bishop Conwell High School, and St. Francis University. She obtained her Nursing Degree from Capital Health and her MSN from Thomas Edison. Mary had a love for being a nurse and dedicated many years to working in this field. She worked at Capital Health as a trauma, medical ICU nurse and then a Nurse Manager of the unit. She was so supportive of her staff that years later many of them kept in contact. Mary also spent time as the Director of Nursing at Abington Hospital and Lower Bucks Hospital. During her final working years, she returned to Capital Health as a night Administrative Coordinator where she continued to be an advocate for staff and patients.

Mary was passionate about many things during her life. She enjoyed swimming and won many awards for competitions in butterfly and diving with the Pennsbury swim team. Mary loved both the beach and mountains. She spent many vacations checking out multiple locations along the Eastern seaboard. This was a special place for her to unwind and relax. On these excursions, she would look for just the right gift for family members, leaving them with some cherished possessions. Her greatest love was family time, especially with her grandchildren. There was always room in their home for one more person.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mary is survived by her children: Christopher Wilcox (Breanna), Lauren Wolfe and Megan Wilcox (Kyle). She is also survived by her siblings: Margaret Hauler (Rob), James Schaeffer (Doris), Thomas Schaeffer (Jeannie), John Schaeffer (Yvonne), Kathleen Dobrzynski (Eric), and Michael Schaeffer (Keri) and her beloved grandchildren: Kaden, Cali, Carter, Raelynn, Brynleigh. Additionally, she is survived by her in-laws: James and Evelyn Wilcox, brother-in-law: Bob Wilcox (Marisa) and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 11:00am at St. Ignatius of Antioch Catholic Church 999 Reading Avenue, Yardley, PA. Calling hours for family and friends will be held from 9:00am to 11:00am at the church. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
