Obituary of Joan E. Schofield

Please share a memory of Joan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joan E. Schofield Joan Elizabeth Schofield of Yardley, Pa., passed away on Friday June 28, 2024 at her home with her loving family. She was 88 years old. Born in Quebec, Canada, Joan's parents along with a family of six children, settled in Trenton, NJ in 1952. She was very proud of her Canadian heritage but thoroughly enjoyed her life in Yardley amongst her family and friends for the past 63 years. In addition to raising her family, Joan worked for the Educational Testing Service (ETS) in Princeton, NJ for 20 years in its Financial Aid Services division. For relaxation, her passion was spending time at the family's summer home in Surf City, NJ on Long Beach Island. Joan treasured her time at the beach surrounded by her family and dear friends. She was an avid sun worshipper and spent every day on the beach and ocean side with her loved ones. Joan also enjoyed growing and tending to her flower gardens. But her greatest joy came from time spent with her husband and children and three grandsons. Her kindness and love for her family and friends will be missed by all. Joan was the daughter of the late Cyril (Cy) Winslade and Eileen Watt Winslade and sister of the late Eileen Curan, and two late brothers, Cyril (Sonny) Winslade and Leonard Winslade. Joan is survived by her beloved husband, J. Peter Schofield of Yardley, Pa., and her daughter, Lisa Schofield of Yardley Pa., her son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Elizabeth Schofield of Newtown, Pa., her three adoring grandchildren, Dean Schofield of Newtown, Pa., Gabriel Myers of Philadelphia, Pa., Cameron Schofield of Washington, DC, and her devoted grand-dog Darwin of Yardley, Pa. She also leaves behind her brother and sister-in-law, Winston and Sandy Winslade, her sister and brother-in-law Karen and Bill Harvie, her sister-in-law Maryjean and John Treon, sister-in-law Deborah Coyle, sister-in-law Phyliss Lugianni and a boatload of loving nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday July 27, 2024, at the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home 17 South Delaware Avenue Yardley, Pa. 19067. Visiting hours will be from 11:00am to 1:00pm, with words of remembrance beginning at 12:15pm, and a continued Celebration of Life will be immediately following at the Yardley Country Club.
