Obituary of Matthew J. Oleynick

Matt Oleynick, 86, of Yardley, PA, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2024. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Matt grew up in Delaware County, PA and then resided in Yardley, PA for much of his life. A graduate of St. James High School in Chester, PA, he attended Drexel University (BS) and American University (MBA). He worked as an accountant and controller. Matt was proud to have served in the United States Marine Corps. Semper Fi. Matt's interests included Penn State football (and ice cream), Philadelphia Sports, fishing, and U.S. Military History. However, his real passion was his faith. He was active in his parish, St. Ignatius of Antioch, as well as the Knights of Columbus, Carmelites, and Cursillo. In addition to deepening his faith, he made many wonderful friends in those groups. He loved his family. Son of the late Matthew and Mary (Lech) Oleynick, he is survived by his loving sons John and his wife Julie of Yardley, PA and Ed and his wife Krista of Yardley, PA; grandchildren Robbie, Megan, and Sophie; and his former wife Anne Ferguson of Langhorne, PA. Visitation will be held Monday, July 22, 2024 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home 17 S. Delaware Avenue Yardley, PA. Matt's funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at 10:00 am at St. Ignatius of Antioch Catholic Church 999 Reading Avenue Yardley, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Ignatius of Antioch or the American Legion Knowles – Doyle Post 317 in Yardley.
