Obituary of Steven W. Adel
Please share a memory of Steven to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Steven Wayne Adel, 64, of Yardley, Pennsylvania earned his angel wings on Tuesday May 30, 2017. Anyone who knew Steve knew that his heart was as big as his moustache.
Steve was born on February 1, 1953 in Philadelphia, PA to Ernest and Mary Adel. He graduated from Bishop Egan High School in 1971 where he was a standout Football star. He attended Delaware Valley College. As a professional, Steve tapped into his entrepreneurial spirit and went on to own the Manhattan Transfer, a prominent hair Salon in the heart of Yardley, PA for 25 years.
Steve's love of life and his family was contagious. He loved fiercely. In later years, being 'Pop' to his grandchildren was his greatest joy. He knew how to have fun and how to make people laugh. He will forever be remembered for his portrayal of Uncle Sam at the annual Memorial Day parade in Yardley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest C. and Mary M. Adel.
Steve will be sadly missed by his son and daughter-in-law, Jason C. and Jennifer Adel of Summit, NJ; his daughter and son-in-law, Lauren A. and Benjamin Bressler of Yardley, PA; his partner, Diane G. Zymkowitz of Yardley; two sisters, Linda C. Flannick (Joe) of Quakertown, PA, and Barbara E. Donahue (Mark) of Holland, PA; five grandchildren, Asher, Grayson and Emery Adel, and Wyatt and Weston Bressler. Joey, Heather, Shannon, Allison and Max will miss their fun Uncle Steve. He will also be missed by Scott and Anne Zymkowitz (Leo & Walt) and Ryan and Jen Zymkowitz, who are forever grateful for the love Steve had for Diane.
Friends may call from 10am to 11am on Wednesday June 7, 2017 at St. Ignatius Church, 999 Reading Avenue, Yardley, PA. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Steve, you will always be remembered by the sound of the ocean, the cry of the gulls.
