On behalf of the members of Philadelphia Chapter, National Railway Historical Society, we note the passing of Richard O. Adams, who was a member of our organization for 64 years. He graduated from the Pennsbury School District, graduating in 1958. In 1962, Rick joined the U. S. Navy, serving an enlistment of four years, and honorably discharged in 1966.
Richard was a very detailed railroad historian, maintaining an extensive roster of the diesel locomotives of the railroads in the area surrounding the Eastern Seaboard of the United States, something he had done for many years. He had traveled to all 50 states and several foreign countries, over that time period amassing more than 70,000 railroad photographs in his private collection.
Adams shared his railroad roster history with many rail historians along the Eastern Seaboard, and we in Philadelphia Chapter, NRHS will miss his expertise.
