Mary L. Arata Obituary

Mary L. Arata, 102, of Yardley, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 12, 2024.


Born in Lower Makefield, she has been a lifelong area resident. She was a parishoner of St. Ignatius of Antioch Catholic Church in Yardley. She was devoted to her family and her church. Mary was a founding member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 6393. She was an active member with the Post for over 78 years. She loved to travel and enjoyed flea markets and auctions.


Daughter of the late John and Agnes (Schwartz) Rupprecht, wife of the late Russell Arata, mother of the late David Arata, and mother-in-law of the late Susan Arata and Judith Arata. Mary is also pre-deceased by her 10 siblings John, Francis, Paul, William, Charles, Helen, Robert, Alvin, Louis, and Edward.


She is survived by her loving children Robert Arata of St. Louis, MO, Alan Arata and his wife Peg of Las Vegas, NV, Joseph Arata and his wife Suly of Avon Park, FL, Mary Lou Mercatanti and her husband Paul of New Hope, PA, K.C. Reinard and her husband Ray of Newtown, PA, 14 grandchildren John, Bryan, Mary Robin, Matthew, Michelle, Robin, Andrew, April, Piero, Carolyn, Russell, Renee, Brittany, and Ray, 20 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.


The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 11:00am at St. Ignatius of Antioch Catholic Church 999 Reading Avenue Yardley, PA 19067. Interment will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery, River Road, Yardley, PA 19067. Calling hours will be held at the church from 9:30am to 11:00am.


In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the VFW Auxiliary 1444 Yardley-Newtown Road #4046 Yardley, PA 19067.
