Obituary of Joan O. Curry

Joan O. ( Dietrich ) Curry peacefully passed away December 22, 2024. Born January 22, 1931 in
Allentown. Pa., Joan was the daughter of William and Margaret (Peters) Dietrich. She was pre-deceased by her husband John J. (Jack) Curry after 46 years of marriage, her son, Timothy J. Curry and her brother Richard (Dick) O. Dietrich.
Joan attended Liberty High School, Bethlehem, Pa., and graduated from the Reading Hospital School of Nursing in 1953. After graduation she did Obstetrical nursing at the hospital followed by Public Health Nursing in St. Louis, Mo. and Bethlehem, PA. Moving to Yardley, PA in 1967 she worked at the Yardley Medical Center for 16 years as a Staff Nurse.
Left to cherish her memory are two children, seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren . Surviving are her
devoted and loving children, Jill C. Shurtleff and her husband Jay, of Jamison, PA, Patricia (Patti) Abramowicz and her husband Mark, of Lake Milton, OH. As well as her sister in law, Barbara Dietrich and many nieces and nephews.
Joan was blessed and very proud of her seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; Adam and Jenni Abramowicz of Abita Springs, LA, Amy Abramowicz Simpson and her husband CJ of Streetsboro, OH and Abbey Abramowicz Laird and her husband Stephen of Streetsboro, OH, Jenafer Marie Burns and her husband Nathan of Vincennes, IN and Chris and Kelsey Curry of Louisville, KY, Jamie Shurtleff and Whitney of Richmond Heights, MO and Jenna Lynn Hess and Stephen of Philadelphia, PA. Greatly missed by her great grandchildren Zoe and Rae Abramowicz, Ella, Jack and Cora Simpson, Lilly, John Joseph (JJ) and Ethan Laird, Sophie Burns, Andrew and Adrian Curry, Sienna Shurtleff and Cecelia Hess.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in Joan's honor.
