My deepest sympathies to all of ABH Naglak's family, friends, and shipmates. Our son is an Aviation Electrician's Mate who was deployed on, and served on the flight deck of, the USS Nimitz a year ago at this time, so this tragedy really hits home for me. I am so very, very sorry for your loss, and so appreciative of Joe's service, both to our country and to those involved in Special Olympics. Words cannot express how heartbroken I am for your family. I remember you as a little boy playing in the neighborhood, seeing you at the bus stop, Halloweens trick or treating with my kids, the Fu's, KitKat and many more. One day I saw you at the bus stop when you were in high school and my first thought was wow look at how you have grown into a man! Today and always you are a hero. My wife and I were truly lucky to have Joe in our lives. We’ll miss cooking for him as well as his cooking and overall the times we spent living together. When we forst moved here, Joe didnt hesitate to help us move all of our things into our new home. He helped us feel comfortable in VA even though we’re thousands of miles from home. I am sadden from the HUGH loss of Joseph . I did not personally know him but he was very important to me . His dedication to my freedom made him extra special . I wish so much to be able to hold you in my arms right now. I love you so much and miss you dearly. You are the closest friend I have and you are family. Since seventh grade, I have not seen you smile the way you smiled at Joe. I knew Joe was special when we Facetimed him last summer. I also knew that you two were meant to be when we had our first meal together. Although I only had a few interactions with Joe, he touched my life because he touched yours. There are no words for the pain you and all those around you are feeling, but just know that I will always be by your side no matter the distance.
